Prior to joining Baystate Financial Services in 2004, he was the Director of Business and Product De-velopment for one of the first consumer driven healthcare companies in the U.S. As one of the nation’s pioneers into consumer driven healthcare (CDHC), Ed is consid-ered a leader in this evolving field. He has worked with hundreds of brokers and em-ployers to introduce and implement the concepts, tools and techniques of CDHC. Ed developed his breadth of industry knowledge through senior level leadership roles with some of the biggest names in the industry. After beginning his career as an As-sistant Town Manager, Ed went on to become Executive Vice President for a major employee benefits consulting and brokerage firm, working with large and small em-ployers to implement group and executive benefit programs. He also led one of the largest and most successful customer business units at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mas-sachusetts and was the Broker Sales Manager at Aetna U.S. Healthcare’s Boston Re-gional office. Ed has an extensive background working with both fully insured and self-insured em-ployee benefits programs. His experience within the carrier markets gives him a unique perspective about the inner workings of managed care and insurance compa-nies, and he brings to Baystate Financial Services, a seasoned veteran at designing em-ployee benefits programs. Ed was recently appointed to the Commonwealth Connector’s Broker Advisory Board, which was established to act as a review and advice panel for the Massachusetts Healthcare Reform process. ![]()
